FAQs

Is the Fellowship right for me?

We've designed the Fellowship to help you figure out exactly what you want next from your career regardless of your age, background, or industry. The Fellowship will NOT be a good fit for you if:

  • You already know exactly what you want and just need help landing a job ASAP
  • You want 1-on-1 expert career coaching (this is a peer-to-peer program)
  • You want the answers handed to you and don't have time to put in the hard work
  • You aren't excited to spend some of your time helping your peers
  • You're not able to commit to completing the assigned work (about 5-7 hrs/wk)
  • You’re looking for specialized career advice for a unique situation (launching your business, getting promoted to CEO, etc.)
Still not sure if the Fellowship is right for you? Send us a message and we'll talk!

What do you mean by "Career Design"?

Career Design is the act of intentionally crafting your career to make it fit you, whether you want to make the most of your current career path or make a bigger career change to something entirely different. Career Design is all about understanding yourself, your goals, and your options, then making a plan and taking thoughtful steps towards more fulfillment. The Fellowship curriculum is based on the Career Design Process, which is our proven methodology to help you find more fulfillment in your career. Inspired by Design Thinking, this process breaks down the overwhelming challenge of “figuring out what you want next” into simple steps that thousands of people like you have used to create careers they love.

How much time will this take? When do I need to be available?

We've designed the Fellowship to take 5 to 7 hours of work per week, mostly on your own schedule. On the Saturday that the program "begins," there is no live session - instead, the full curriculum will become available for you to start working on. Each week you'll have a Team meeting for 1.5 hours on the day and time that you select upon enrolling. This is the only component of the program that occurs at a fixed time. You will also set up weekly calls with your assigned Accountability Partner. You will get the best results when you keep up with the suggested deadlines and attend all of your weekly Team meetings and Accountability Partner calls.

What technology do I need to participate?

All you need is a computer with a webcam (tablets won't work!), reliable wifi, and a Google account. Nothing to download, and no special equipment required! We'll be using a platform called Teachable for the program curriculum, a tool called Circle for our community discussion forum, Google Docs for your assignments, and a video conferencing tool called Jitsi Meet. We provide tech tutorials before the Fellowship begins so you can learn everything you need to know! *Note that company computers may have security features that prevent some of these tools from working properly. We recommend using a personal computer.

What if I have to miss one or more of the Team meetings?

While we really want you to participate as fully as possible in the Fellowship, we understand that you may occasionally have a conflict. When you enroll, you'll be asked to choose either Wednesday or Thursday team meeting times. If you need to miss just one of the four team meetings, you can give your team advanced warning and make up the work later. However, if you need to miss more than one, we suggest you wait for the next cohort of the Fellowship.

Refund Policy and Money Back Guarantee

You are eligible for a full refund up until 7 days before the Fellowship begins. After that, we cannot provide a refund, but we can transfer your enrollment to a later date (up until two weeks into the Fellowship). If you are still feeling totally lost after the Fellowship, we'll offer you a 1:1 meeting to help you figure out exactly what to do differently. If you’re following what we suggest and it’s still not working, we will give you your money back.
For more details on both of these, review our Terms of Use

Who is leading the program?

The Fellowship experience is brought to you by the career design experts at Mission Collaborative. They’ve spent years refining this program, and they’ll be your guides through the curriculum. Grant Schroll, Co-Founder of Mission Collaborative - I'm passionate about helping people like you design a fulfilling career that fits you. I've navigated many career changes myself, going from engineer, to consultant, to designer, and now business owner. I use my background in Design Thinking and facilitation to help people use the Career Design Process to figure out exactly what they want next from their careers and make a plan to get there.

Ashley Artrip, Co-Founder of Mission Collaborative - My mission in life is to help others design successful careers that are engaging and fulfilling. I previously worked at Gallup where I focused on researching employee engagement and what contributes to a successful career. I am a certified Gallup StrengthsFinder coach, enabling me to help others identify their strengths and harness them to design careers they love!

What sort of support can I expect from the Fellowship staff?

Throughout the Fellowship, you'll get a ton of value from the curriculum, your weekly Team meetings, and your calls with your Accountability Partner. Should you get stuck, have questions, or just need to talk something through, your assigned Program Manager will be there for you on an as-needed basis! You can reach out to your Program manager for any of the following reasons:

  • You're feeling stuck or frustrated and need some support
  • You have a question or want feedback on an assignment you're working on
  • You need tech support with any of the tools we use in the Fellowship
  • You have a concern about your Team or Accountability Partner
*The Fellowship does not provide 1-on-1 career coaching.

What sort of outcomes can I expect?

So long as you put in the work, you can expect to achieve the following:

  • Develop a better understanding of yourself; strengths, skills, values, interests, and more
  • Clearly define what you want from the next chapter of your career
  • Identify several exciting potential career paths that you could pursue next
  • Learn an effective process to thoughtfully design your career and pick your next move
  • Build lasting relationships with peers who will support you through your journey
  • Learn how to use effective career resources to help you achieve your goals
